Kaylor & Jessica's Proposal and Brunch

Kaylor and Jessica’s surprise engagement is by far my favorite live proposal I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing! The planning was perfect and detailed, Kaylor and Jessica were the sweetest people to photograph, and their whole family was just so welcoming and wonderful!! Surprise proposals can be super tough to pull off and are always nerve-wracking. They carry all of the "one-shot" weight of a wedding, with the added element of difficulty that one of the two people involved has no idea of the event they are participating in!!! The results though, can be incredible.

I started my interactions with Kaylor’s mom a few weeks before the proposal. After a quick chat on the phone, she sent me a video of the proposal spot with a rundown of the plan. “Kaylor and Jessica will pull in here, you can park over here and hide behind this tree or by your car. We’ll be over here hiding in our cars!” It was perfect. So the day came and I hid behind my tree.

After church, Kaylor and Jessica borrowed Kaylor's dad's classic yellow Porsche and followed the rest of the family to their favorite brunch spot. About halfway there, Kaylor pulls over at a local park claiming car trouble. Kaylor pops the hood, (which is actually the trunk of this car 😂) and calls Jessica to come to look at something. Inside the trunk is a little note saying, "ATTENTION: Jessica, will you marry me?" Her reaction was priceless and to top it all off her family came running across the park having flown into town to be part of the event!

There were hugs all around and then everyone headed back to Kaylor’s parents’ house for a beautiful brunch put together by Styled By Nora’s own Nora, an incredible Nashville event stylist and planner. She brought the party together with a killer bloody mary and mimosa bar, a beautiful spread of brunch fare, and a fantastic table complete with vintage glassware, hand-lettered place cards, and gold accent pieces to capture the early October vibe.

After a few more silly pictures with friends and the couple themselves, everyone sat down for the beginning of what was likely a whole day of celebrating this wonderful couple and their future together! Cheers Kaylor and Jessica!
